Land Together's work has always been grounded in direct experience, and our research partnerships deepen that foundation. We collaborate with universities, public health institutions, scientific organizations, and government agencies to study what we know to be true from years of practice: that connection to nature heals, and that people inside prisons are capable of profound growth, scientific inquiry, and leadership. These partnerships generate evidence across ecotherapy and healing, food security, environmental health, and climate resilience, and help build the case for land-based healing and environmental justice in carceral settings nationwide.

A first-of-its-kind initiative with Amend at UCSF exploring how ecotherapy and land-based healing can support high-need individuals inside San Quentin Rehabilitation Center.

Incarcerated participants earn a statewide naturalist certification while contributing to real environmental science research, in partnership with UC Davis.
