One garden giving to the next

Something is taking root at MCSP beyond D Yard.

Prison leadership has seen what the garden program has done there: the way it has shifted the environment for both residents and staff, the mental health benefits recognized by clinical and medical teams, the transformation visible enough that they want to spread it. Raised beds have already been ordered for E Yard, to be built by residents through the prison's building trades program.

Land Together will supply the soil, plants, and seeds to get things started. The plan is to share cuttings and divisions from the D Yard garden and save seeds to pass along. One garden giving to the next.

Program alumni as inside facilitators will lead the work, using our Edovo digital curriculum to get the new group going.

We hope it serves as inspiration for inside-facilitator-run Insight Garden Clubs on other yards and, eventually, at other prisons across California.
