A walk at Tennessee Valley Beach

This month’s reentry excursion took us out to the Tennessee Valley trail in the Marin Headlands. We opened in circle. Anthony, our participant lead for the day, guided a meditation before we headed toward the water, and Matt, our bird expert, helped everyone slow down and notice what was around them.

For people coming home, these walks are a chance to breathe and reconnect. For some, a day like this is when freedom starts to feel real, and that can move people to tears.

Anthony showed us a beaded hummingbird he made, a skill he picked up inside and still uses to make gifts for people he loves. Later, Adrian and Logan, former cellmates who both came home within the past year, walked down to the beach side by side.

Days like this are one part of the work. This month, our reentry team supported more than 100 people, with everything from gate pickups and emotional support to housing assistance and job searches.
